Bianca

Bianca had been at the Kona shelter for a long time.  She's a great dog, but had at least one adoption turned down because she wasn't good with cats.  A couple from the mainland took her on a field trip while visiting Kona, and loved her!  After they got home, they realized they wanted her in their lives (and they don't have any cats!).

Not sure what to do, they contacted the airlines and booked a flight that was available, then called a rescue in Kona for help. The rescue called us.  We spoke to the shelter and the potential adopters to work out a plan. The couple was able to adopt Bianca from the shelter over the phone. It turns out it's hard to get large dog crates on short notice in Hawaii, but the shelter provided one with the caveat that the couple buy a replacement for the shelter.

On the day of the flight, the shelter prepped the crate.  We picked up Bianca and took her to a vet for a health certificate, filled out the airline paperwork, delivered her to the airline, in her crate and paid her fare.  She's a great little traveler! Very calm the whole time. The adopter's father picked Bianca up at the airport and drove her the rest of the way home.

Her new family is so happy to have her, and she's so happy to have them!  Have a great life, Bianca!
