Coma (pronounced like comma)
We got a call from a local rescue about a dog Hilo side. A woman had called them about her injured dog. He had been stolen some time before and was just found dumped on Mauna Kea. It looked like he had gotten caught in a pig snare. Half of his paw was gone and the bones were exposed. She dearly loved her dog but couldn't afford the bill to have the damaged paw removed. Without money for the vet, her only other option would be to surrender him to the shelter and hope they would see him as a candidate for the second chance fund. Since she didn't want to give him up, she was calling everyone she could think of to try to raise the money for the surgery.
The rescue called us. We covered the cost of his surgery, so he could stay with his family. He and his family had already been through enough! The surgery went well, and he's now back home with his family.
Unfortunately all the pictures I have of Coma were from before surgery, and are pretty graphic!
